Defender of Rights

An independent constitutional authority that ensures respect for rights and freedoms. It acts notably in dealings with public services, the fight against discrimination, children's rights and compliance with professional ethics by security professionals.

An independent authority

The Defender of Rights ensures that rights and freedoms are respected. Its independence allows it to intervene, particularly when someone encounters a problem with a public service or believes they are experiencing discrimination.

Its areas of intervention

Its responsibilities include the rights of public service users, children’s rights, combating discrimination and the professional ethics of security personnel.

Remember: it is not a court. Referring a case to it does not replace any necessary judicial or administrative appeals and does not exempt you from meeting their deadlines.
