Charter of the Rights and Duties of the French Citizen

A text setting out the principles, values and symbols of the Republic, which applicants sign during naturalisation.

The Charter recalls the motto “Liberty, Equality, Fraternity”, the national anthem, the tricolour flag, secularism and the rights and duties of citizenship, such as voting and obeying the law.

Signing it marks the future citizen’s commitment to the principles of the Republic.
