CE1

Elementary Year 1: a primary school grade after CP and before CE2. It is part of Cycle 2, the fundamental learning cycle.

Between CP and CE2

The first year of the elementary course is a class in elementary school. It comes after the preparatory year and before the second year of the elementary course.

Continuing to build fundamental skills

CE1 helps strengthen reading, comprehension, writing and mathematical skills. Pupils also develop their ability to express themselves, their knowledge of the world and their study habits. Teaching builds on the skills acquired in CP rather than simply repeating them.

Its place in the school pathway

CE1 belongs to cycle 2, along with CP and CE2. This cycle structures progression over several years. To understand the school system, it is important to distinguish between elementary school, the classes within it and the learning cycles to which these classes belong.
