CM2

Second year of the middle course: the final year of elementary school, after CM1 and before sixth grade in lower secondary school. It is part of Cycle 3, the consolidation cycle.

The final year of primary school

The second year of the middle course comes after CM1 and before the first year of lower secondary school. It completes primary education, but not the educational cycle to which it belongs.

Consolidating skills and preparing for the transition

Pupils deepen their skills in French and mathematics, develop their knowledge in other subjects and become more independent. Preparation for starting lower secondary school also focuses on organising their work and ensuring continuity in learning.

Its place in Cycle 3

CM2 is part of the consolidation cycle, along with CM1 and the first year of lower secondary school. The transition from primary to lower secondary school therefore takes place within this cycle. It is useful to distinguish between a change of school and the end of an educational cycle.
