CAF

Family Allowance Fund: a Social Security agency that pays family benefits and housing assistance, among other benefits, based on beneficiaries’ circumstances and financial resources.

A social benefits agency

The Family Allowance Fund is part of the Family branch of the Social Security system. It pays family benefits and housing assistance, among other benefits, subject to the specific conditions for each type of assistance.

Entitlements based on individual circumstances

Income, household composition, housing and other factors may be taken into account when calculating entitlements. Assistance is not automatically granted to everyone who applies for it. Recipients must provide the necessary information and report relevant changes.

CAF and CPAM

The CAF deals with family benefits and housing, among other areas, while the CPAM manages health insurance entitlements. Social benefits are separate from the wages paid by an employer and the minimum wage set by the SMIC. The CSG, for its part, contributes to the collective funding of social protection.
