CSG — Guiana Space Centre
European spaceport located in French Guiana, near Kourou, used to launch rockets. In this context, the acronym CSG refers to the Guiana Space Centre, not the general social contribution.
A spaceport in French Guiana
The Guiana Space Centre, near Kourou in French Guiana, is a rocket launch base. It is a major infrastructure facility for European space activities.
A geographical reference point
French Guiana is located in South America. The presence of this base illustrates the role of overseas territories in French and European scientific and technological activities.
Watch out for the acronym: here, CSG stands for Centre spatial guyanais (Guiana Space Centre). In the field of social protection, CSG stands for contribution sociale généralisée (general social contribution): these are two different concepts.
